IP Lookup - Find Your IP Address and Geolocation Information

An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique identifier assigned to every device connected to the internet. IP lookup reveals the geolocation, ISP, and organization associated with an IP address.

IPv4 vs IPv6

  • IPv4 - 32-bit address, e.g., 8.8.8.8. About 4.3 billion addresses (most exhausted)
  • IPv6 - 128-bit address, e.g., 2001:4860:4860::8888. Essentially unlimited addresses

What IP Lookup Reveals

  • Country and city (geolocation, not always precise)
  • ISP / Organization that owns the IP range
  • ASN (Autonomous System Number)
  • Hostname (if reverse DNS is configured)
  • Proxy/VPN detection (some services flag known VPN IPs)

Privacy Note

IP geolocation is approximate - it can usually identify country and city, but not your exact address. Using a VPN masks your real IP and location from websites you visit.
